Pandas don't breed in the wild - why are we helping them?

The species has been selected for extinction. The animals don't breed in the wild, and that's a fact, Jack. Natural selection is at work here, yet we humans just have to interfere for some reason. Why do we go to such pains to help a species breed against their instincts? They aren't hunted or having their ecosystem demolished, they're done. Like the dodo. We should put the same efforts into getting gas prices down.

You are horribly misinformed. Pandas breed in tthe wild. They eat bamboo and much of their habitat has been destroyed by the population in China where they live. The decrease in their population is not a matter of natural selection at all. No animal has an instinct to self destruct. Gas prices operate on supply and demand as well as the futures market. I gather that you never studied environmental science or economics. Although the gas prices are temporarily down, they will go sky high as soon as the winter heating season begins when the demand for oil increases..
